Accessibility statement

This statement applies to www.playnowclub.co.uk and to the PlayNow app that clubs, coaches and families sign in to at the same address.

PlayNow is run by PlayNow Ltd. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. Registering a child for a club, telling that club about an allergy, and paying for the season are not optional errands — a family that cannot do them here cannot take part.

How accessible this website is

PlayNow is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, because of the exceptions listed below. Partially, not fully: we would rather tell you what is not right than have you discover it.

What is in place today:

  • Every page starts with a “Skip to main content” link, so a keyboard user reaches the form or the list without tabbing through the whole navigation first.
  • Every page has a main landmark, and the navigation, main content and footer are marked up as regions a screen reader can jump between.
  • Form errors are announced when they appear, and each one is tied to the field it belongs to, so tabbing back to a rejected box repeats the reason.
  • Keyboard focus is always visible — a solid outline, never a colour change alone — and nothing on the site is reachable by mouse only.
  • Body text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background, including the small print in the footer.
  • Animation stops for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion. Nothing flashes, and nothing moves on a timer that cannot be paused.
  • There is no CAPTCHA anywhere on PlayNow, and there never will be — no puzzle stands between a parent and their child's registration.
  • Pages work at 400% zoom and on a phone without side-to-side scrolling.
  • Nothing is locked to one way up. Every public page and signed-out screen works with a phone or tablet held either portrait or landscape, and the automated tests measure both on every change.

What we know is not accessible yet

  • Not every screen has been checked against WCAG 2.2 AA.

The public pages and the sign-in, sign-up, password and registration screens have been gone through. The club admin area and Mission Control have not been checked line by line, so there may be failures there we have not found yet.

  • Some tables in the club admin area scroll sideways on a small screen.

Money and timesheet tables carry more columns than a phone is wide. They can be read by scrolling the table itself; the page does not scroll sideways.

How we tested

PlayNow was last tested on 14 August 2026. The testing was done by our own team, not by an external auditor — no third-party accessibility audit has been carried out, and this statement does not claim one.

Testing covers keyboard-only navigation, screen-reader landmark and form behaviour, contrast measurement against the WCAG formula, and an automated browser suite that runs on every change in both Chromium and WebKit. That suite opens every public page at eight screen shapes — two phone sizes, a tablet and two desktop widths, each of the handheld ones both portrait and landscape — and measures them rather than looking at them: whether the page scrolls sideways, whether anything sits wider than the screen, and whether the thing you came to do can be scrolled clear of the bars at the top and bottom and actually tapped. We intend to commission an independent audit, and this page will say so plainly when one has happened.

Telling us about a problem

If anything on PlayNow gets in your way, or you need something in a format that works better for you, email hello@playnowclub.co.uk. It reaches a person, not a queue.

It helps if you can say which page you were on and what you were trying to do, but tell us in whatever way suits you — a sentence is enough. We aim to reply within five working days, and if what you need is urgent, say so and we will deal with it that day.

We can also give you information held in PlayNow another way — read out over the phone, or sent as plain text — while we fix the thing that stopped you getting it yourself.

If you are not happy with our response

Tell us, first, and say that you are unhappy with the reply — the same address reaches somebody who can take it further. If that does not resolve it, the Equality Act 2010 covers services like this one, and the Equality Advisory and Support Service gives free, independent advice on what you can do next. You do not need our agreement to contact them.

If you came to PlayNow through a club, you can raise it with the club as well — but the accessibility of this software is ours to fix, not theirs.
